Darryl Dieckman: President

Darryl is a woodworker, an artist, and a recovering software engineer.  He attended The Krenov School in 2017 and 2018.  He is currently an artist in residence at the Cubberley Artist Studio Program in Palo Alto, CA and teaches woodworking courses at the Palo Alto Adult School.  Darryl is responsible for the Krenov Foundation newsletter and the digital preservation efforts of the Krenov Archive.


Garry Venable: Vice President

Garry Venable attended the CRW in 1990 and has maintained his one-man bespoke furniture and millwork shop over the last four decades. His other professional experiences include working as the principle bow rehairer at Shar products, assistant violin maker at the famed Curtin and Alf studios, and woodshop and fabrications coordinator at the Cranbrook academy of fine art. Garry enjoys cooking large paellas and using fine Japanese hand planes.


Bruce Hart: Treasurer

Bruce is a full-time woodworker and craftsman. He attended The Krenov School in 2017 & 2018 after a five year career as a wildland firefighter on a USFS Hotshot Crew. He lives and works in the Sierra Nevada Foothills making custom furniture and milling lumber.


Mattie Hinkley: Secretary

Mattie Hinkley is an artist and craftsperson. They attended the Krenov School in 2017 & 2018 before earning their BFA in Craft/Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. Mattie lives in Chico, California and is a current MFA candidate at Maine College of Art & Design.


Sam Cotton

Sam is a furniture maker and designer currently practicing in mid-coast Maine. He attended the Krenov School in 2012 between earning a Bachelor’s degree in Art and a Master’s degree in Industrial Design. Sam splits his time between furniture commissions and working on his home .


Clay Craig

Clay is a retired lawyer and supporter of the local woodworking community.


Ron Hock

Ron Hock is the owner of Hock Tools, manufacturers of blades for woodworking tools since 1982, the year he met James Krenov. Ron had been designing and hand-crafting kitchen and hunting knives but his career changed course when JK and his students asked him to make blades for their wooden hand planes. It’s been woodworking tools ever since. Ron is known to say that, “Jim Krenov was responsible for the careers of many woodworkers, but maybe just one metalworker. I am forever grateful.”


Anya Jindrich

Anya relocated from her native Chicago to attend the CRW class of 2010. Her deep connection to the community and love of nature brought her back to the Mendocino Coast after earning a degree in Social Work. Currently, Anya serves as the Executive Director of the Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County.

Paul Reiber

Paul Reiber is a woodcarver and sculptor. He was in the first class to graduate from The Krenov School in 1982. Since that time he has maintained an active shop on the Mendocino Coast producing custom carvings, architectural details and sculpture.


Greg Smith

Greg Smith was a member of the classes of 1992 and 1993. His twenty-six years of professional woodworking includes experience in custom production shops, an artist-in-residency at the Appalachian Center for Crafts, while at the same time creating award-winning fine furniture.
